Zanele Chauke

Director

Zanele joined our Firm in November 2021 as the Senior Associate. She completed her LLB degree at the University of Witwatersrand in 2010. After completion of her articles, Zanele was exposed to various aspects of legal practice that included employment and labour law. She gained insightful exposure to labour law and from this foundation, she took the decision to specialize in that field.

In her years of practice, Zanele represented various trade unions (including NUM, NUMSA, FAWU, SAMWU and SATAWU) in various dispute resolution forums. She was actively involved in a number of urgent applications, amongst others, that were brought by and against the trade unions at the Labour Court. Zanele was also involved in disputes relating to individual and mass dismissal disputes, collective bargaining disputes and labour training for the trade unions shop stewards.

She further acted for some of the major corporate companies as well as State Owned Entities (SOEs), both in various dispute resolution fora, CCMA, Bargaining Council, Labour Court and Labour Appeal Court. Zanele handled many internal disciplinary proceedings, of both junior and senior employees, wherein she prosecuted in disciplinary hearings, chaired in disciplinary hearings, grievance hearings and appeal hearings. We are confident that being part of our team, Zanele will bring further high-quality legal service and assistance to our valued clients.
